Newark Advances to Regional Championship

The Norsemen took on familiar foe Somonauk in their first regional game on Wednesday night. The Norsemen started out pretty solid as they led 20-14 at the end of one quarter of play. The second quarter was rough for Newark. Somonauk went on a 20-5 run in this quarter and led 34-25 at halftime. The Norsemen struggled rebounding the entire game and also struggled with fouls. In the second half, the Norsemen fought hard and won the game with the final score reading 66-54. Somonauk played a very good game, but Newark was able to come away with a win in the end. Kyle Anderson led all scorers with 29 points and Jeremy Anderson added 12 points. The Norsemen will take on Ottawa-Marquette in the regional championship game Friday night at Serena.
